My hat goes off to Russell Simmons for using his celebrity and media mogul power to tap into this Political movement in such a profound way. A criticism of Black entertainers is often that they do not provide a forum for solutions and this mixtape is an excellent way of getting out Barack Obama’s message of change to people who might not have watched tonight’s debate, who might not have access to youtube and have the luxury of watching media pundits articulate the pros and cons of our political process.

While I sit here listening to this mixtape I am inspired that one man could bring together people of all ethnicities, different economic bacgrounds, different political ideologies and bring them to the same table and involve them in today’s leadership. I agree wholeheartedly with Barack Obama. as President you will need to be able to handle more than one issue at a time. Earlier today John McCain suspended his campaign asking Barack Obama to do the same, at this point it seems that he will not and for good reason. John McCain thought that Barack Obama would bow to his failed leadership cap[abilities and ever so graciously he did not. YES WE CAN!!!!!!!! GET YA PLANE READY MCCAIN AND LETS DEBATE! OBAMA 08

Now the mainstream media is announcing what we have known over here at Notes of This Native Son for quite some time. Colin Powell is set to announce his full fledged support behind Barack Obama at the Convention in Denver. Team Obama YES WE CAN!

Hopefully what this endorsement will show is that Conservatives do not believe in John McCain and his supporters will convert over to Team Obama. While watching CNN I saw a statistic that claimed that McCain has a 9 point lead with Americans feeling he would be better quipped to handle international conflict.

What I just saw from this past Russia - Georgia conflict is that McCain is a real tough talker. So tough in fact, that someone will call his bluff. Why do we feel safer with a person who seems more trigger happy, that trigger happy feeling is what has so many Americans dead in Iraq now. I would take sound judgment over a trigger happy fellow any day.

Media Pundits and Political leaders seem a little upset that a politician did the unthinkable. He told the truth!

Many who are in the running for the VP slot for Barack obama are keeping tight lipped, some even going as far to say they would reject the offer. Senator biden however is letting it be known that he would proudly serve this county as Vice President. And Kudos to that man for being honest. Politricks can be a little weird at times, if you tell the truth you are a liar, if you lie you are merely protecting the public. Me personally, I don’t get it at times.

I would rather say hey I’ll take the position rather than talk about how much I wouldn’t and then accept it later. What do you call that? A change of heart, I think not! Obama 08 Yes We Can Si Se Puede!

Do you remember Elian Gonzalez? He was the young boy who came here from Cuba with his mother and his mother’s boyfriend. However most of the people on the small aluminum boat they were traveling on died on their way to the United States. Two young boys then ended up on the shores of Florida via an inner tube and were turned over to the U.S Coast Guard. A nasty fight ensued between both sides of the family which resulted in the little boy going back to Cuba to be with his biological father.

You’re thinking like me, what in the world does this have to do with Obama. Well apparently his Uncle is holding some of Barack’s associates responsible. One of which is Eric Holder who is now helping Obama pick a running mate, he was under Janet Reno when she ordered Elian’s return to his father in Cuba. Gregory Craig was Elian’s father’s lawyer who helped him get his son back.

While I was watching CNN, the family’s spokesperson was speaking to a group of Cuban supporters misinterpreting Obama’s stance on Cuba. Apparently Elian has become a member of the Young Communist Union, and many Cubans blame a host of individuals for his return to Cuba and two of them are Obama’s advisers.

I just ask, when does it all end. People are so focused on media attention and because Barack is what’s hot in the news right now all types of nonsense gets attached to him. My question is why don’t these supporters go make statements about the U.S. Supreme Court who refused to hear their case. Or the countless other courts who denied them. Instead they come after Obama, for future reference please attack the NEXT President with substantiative issues and not mere propaganda which seeks to alienate more voters. Thanks. What an amazing President we will have when the Fall Election commences. Amidst the devastation of the flooding in the Midwest Barack Obama put for action over image. Anyone can send kind words to the families in need but Barack chose to get down with the relief efforts and pick up a shovel and fill sand bags. That’s my President! YES WE CAN, SI SE PUEDE!

For quite some time Colin Powell has been expressing his admiration for the way Barack Obama is uniting the country. Of course we appreciate the support, and Colin Powell is an asset to have in your corner. Many will fault him for being on the Bush team. I admire that he admits the poor decisions that he made and has since abandoned that post when he saw that he could not affect the type of change that was needed under the current administration. Colin Powell, YES WE CAN!

I must say I was quite impressed with Hillary’s Concession speech the other day. I was pleasantly surprised with the energy and tenacity she used to pledge her support for Barack Obama. Clinton urged her 18,000,000 plus voter base to support Barack as well so that the Democrats can re-claim the White House in the Fall.

I must commend her on her gracefulness and what seemed to be a genuinely sincere message that not only supported Barack but highlighted this historic moment as a barrier breaker for both people of color and women. I hope that we can continue to see such energy from the Clinton’s in this general election process. YES WE CAN!

It’s really sad to see someone watch their dream get crushed before their very own eyes. Hillary Clinton I am sorry that it had to happen this way, I think you fought a long hard battle. A little dirty at times but you definitely waged one hell of a war!. Now it’s time to say goodbye to all your presidential dreams. (said in barney voice) YES WE CAN SI SE PUEDE!
