So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and closed up the place with flesh. Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman, for she was taken out of man.” For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. Genesis 2: 21-24
Yizzo, I’ve been missing in action as of late but to me it’s for good reason. I like to feel inspired to write and for me if there is no inspiration than I could become the victim of writing for the sake of writing and losing a genuine connection to my own words. However this past weekend something inspired me to write. A good friend of mine was married and the whole experience was such a blessing. I can’t write it all down in 3 or 4 paragraphs but I can summarize what inspired me about it and what I gained from the experience.
I believe it was the first wedding that I attended that was in a church. There was a certain spiritual realm that existed in this building and I made sure to be very attentive because I knew I was supposed to learn something. The pastor spoke about the union of marriage, how it is reflective of Christ and his relationship to the church. I had never heard that before and it was an intriguing idea that I want to learn more about. There’s a duality in there that I think sounds amazing. How God provides for the church and the church provides in their worship of God, in their testimony of his power. Similarly how a man and woman provide for one another, through good and bad, bitter and sweet; our spiritual walk with God is give and take as well.
Throughout the wedding speeches God was mentioned, the young man spoke of how he had asked for this day and how his new wife was God’s gift to him, his prayers had been answered. She said something similar but it meant so much to me because this is my friend. And I remember when she was single and this day looked so far away because brothers were acting any old kind of way. So to see her being married, creating this union before God was very special to me.
I mean the event was amazing; it was as if royalty were being married and real talk that’s how it should be. When God joins a man and a woman, it should feel like Kings and Queens are being brought together in his name. When God took the rib, it symbolized protection but it also symbolized a sense of completeness. To watch two people on their wedding day, you get to see the rib; you get to see how they are professing their completeness together before God and those who witness. I know a lot of men and women are searching for that special someone, I think my home girl is living proof that not only do dreams come true but that a foundation in God and spirituality with your lover will make for a better situation. Just my thoughts! Peace and Grace be unto you!

There will be no free downloads of this album from my site, however I will let it be known that the album is on the money. Many rumors have been circling around the internet and the blogs that Usher was about to drop a dud.
Well if you’re a 5 year old and can not appreciate a man’s growth through his music then you will probably not like this. But if you are ready for a sincere to R&B, I mean that real rhythm and blues then I suggest you go out and purchase Usher’s new album when it drops on Tuesday, May 27th.
From the beginning to the end of the album Usher will bring you on a roller coaster journey of a man and his emotions battling love and facing his fears head on. “Moving Mountains” finds Usher more than comfortable while divulging his feelings about a love going down the wrong path. Those who have been there can relate to the metaphor with ease and are fighting for Ush to move the mountain, climbing and hoping for things to change. What can you do?
“Prayer for you” is just an interlude but you can see the growth in my man Usher singing a prayer for his little man. I remember back when Usher was a young dude singing “just call me a mack” and now he is showing the true evolution going from the ladies man to now becoming a family man.
A sure hit for the radio “Best Thing” finds Young Hov and Usher riding the beat getting the ladies ready for a hot summer!
“Appetite” will be a favorite of all these gossip sites looking to throw some salt or hate into dude’s new marriage. He’s hitting the fellas with a message though telling us not to feed our appetites or we’ll be trying to get into the crib but the key won’t fit no more.
All the Ladies looking to find that special dude will hope that when the time comes that he serenades them with the words to “Before I Met You”! A beautiful dedication to the special one in your life, like I said Usher is definitely showing growth on this one, not the same player from Confessions!
Everyone is going to attempt to compare this album to Usher’s last but that will be their first mistake. You can not compare the two; Usher released Confessions at 25 fresh out of break up. He is now 29 and a happily married man with a child, in those four years there has obviously been a lot of growth and it shows on Here I Am. Quality Product, I’ll be buying the retail copy as soon as it drops on the 27th!

Jay-Z and Beyonce aren’t the only ones who celebrated their nuptials this past weekend. I want to send a warm welcome to Mr. & Mrs. Elvin Fulton III who tied the knot in a private ceremony this past Friday evening. Let’s continue to celebrate the black family, and a beautiful union of two people who love each other.
