Michelle Obama has Slave Blood

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Do you remember the Southern Christian Leadership Conference? Of course you do, the SCLC, the organization MLK led during the Civil Rights Era.

Well there new President is a brother by the name of Dr. Charles Steele and here is what he had to say about how the media is treating Barack Obama vs. Michelle Obama.

“Why are they attacking Michelle Obama, first lady Michelle Obama, and not really attacking, to that degree, her husband?” Steele asked. “Because he has no slave blood in him. He does not have any slave blood in him, but Michelle does.” Atlanta Journal Constitution

Any thoughts? This should spark some debate!

Al Sharpton Facing More Scrutiny

Monday, June 16th, 2008

June 15, 2008 — Anheuser-Busch gave him six figures, Colgate-Palmolive shelled out $50,000 and Macy’s and Pfizer have contributed thousands to the Rev. Al Sharpton’s charity.

Almost 50 companies - including PepsiCo, General Motors, Wal-Mart, FedEx, Continental Airlines, Johnson & Johnson and Chase - and some labor unions sponsored Sharpton’s National Action Network annual conference in April.

Terrified of negative publicity, fearful of a consumer boycott or eager to make nice with the civil-rights activist, CEOs write checks, critics say, to NAN and Sharpton - who brandishes the buying power of African-American consumers. In some cases, they hire him as a consultant.

The cash flows even as the US Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn has been conducting a grand-jury investigation of NAN’s finances.

A General Motors spokesman told The Post that NAN had repeatedly - and unsuccessfully - asked for contributions for six years, beginning in August 2000.

Then, in December 2006, Sharpton threatened to call a boycott of the carmaker over the closing of an African-American-owned GM dealership in The Bronx, and he picketed outside GM headquarters on Fifth Avenue.

Last year, General Motors gave NAN a $5,000 donation. It gave $5,000 more this year, a spokesman said, calling NAN a “worthy” organization.

In November 2003, Sharpton picketed DaimlerChrysler’s Chicago car show and threatened a boycott over alleged racial bias in car loans.

“This is institutional racism,” he bellowed.

In May 2004, Chrysler began supporting NAN’s conferences, which include panels on corporate responsibility and civil rights and a black-tie awards dinner to honor Martin Luther King Jr. Last year, Sharpton gave Chrysler an award for corporate excellence.

In 2003, Sharpton targeted American Honda for not hiring enough African-Americans in management.

“We support those that support us,” wrote Sharpton and the Rev. Horace Sheffield III, president of NAN’s Michigan chapter, in a letter to American Honda. “We cannot be silent while African-Americans spend hard-earned dollars with a company that does not hire, promote or do business with us in a statistically significant manner.”

Two months after American Honda execs met with Sharpton, the carmaker began to sponsor NAN’s events - and continues to pay “a modest amount” each year, a spokesman said.

Fires can’t be made with dead embers, nor can enthusiasm be stirred by spiritless men. Enthusiasm in our daily work lightens effort and turns even labor into pleasant tasks. - James Baldwin

Pardon me

February 26, 2008

I have set the LORD always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Psalm 16:8 NIV

He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God. John 8:47

I read the first verse and it reminded me of how I felt some weeks ago when I read the second verse. Lately faith has been on my mind, the true nature of believing but when I read the message this morning it reminded me of another word; ACTION. I thought about what the passage was saying to me, I asked myself have I set the Lord before me? I must not have because to this very moment there are things that shake me, things that rattle my faith and rack my inner person. I know they are temporary but this still happens, I still get knocked off of my course at times. So then I thought about how I felt when I first read the second verse. I remember feeling like “do I not belong to God” because sometimes I pray and I don’t feel like I get a response. Maybe I did get a response and it wasn’t the response I was looking for but either way I started questioning myself, questioning my beliefs, and if I am truly walking in a better direction. Am I truly building a relationship with God, because I want to hear, I want him to be my right hand so that I will not be shaken.

Well that brings us back to the word ACTION. Only today where we have the drive thru mentality do we expect things instantly! You can not have a 6 pack if you don’t work out. We will not get a promotion at work if we do not perform to a higher standard than what is naturally expected of us. In order to get good grades in school, we labor hard hours of study. Think of this ACTION in the concept of relationships, you have to spend time, communicate, and work towards a common goal. So it is not that God is not our right hand, it is not that we don’t belong to God. You have to pardon me when I say we, if I am putting forth my own weaknesses on you than I apologize but these are the issues that I deal with. However, we have to work at this relationship with God, daily. This is the new workout plan for getting to know God, for beginning to love the God within, beginning to love ourselves. It’s going to take action. I have wanted a six pack for years, never got one though, you know why, I never worked at it consistently. So if I can’t work out one day and get the results I want, what makes me think that I can pray one time, or only pray when I’m down and think that everything is going to be alright. Noooo, there has to be a process, this must become a plan of ACTION, I must continually work on my relationship with the lord to gain a true relationship with him! Lets get together in a spiritual exercise, fellowship is like your buddy system at the gym. Together we can exercise our spiritual muscles, engage our spiritual minds AND MOVE TOWARD HEARING WHAT GOD says to us and not being shaken because he is our right hand. Peace and Grace be unto you!
