As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him. Psalm 103:13 NIV
When I think about a father, I think about a protector, a guardian of sorts. As a kid I feared my father because I didn’t want to get beat but now that I am older I appreciate the fear he instilled in me because without it I may have gotten lost in another direction. But to me this verse is speaking about how the Lord has compassion for us, and really we are all his children so he is our protector. That fear that we have for the Lord is an utmost respect because we know the greatness of his works. I knew as a child not only did my father protect me but he also kept food on the table and clothes on my back. The Lord gives us all we need and all that he asks is that we respect his word and the relationship that he has created for us to have with him. If we do not respect and appreciate the fear that he has instilled in our being through the God within we too risk the chance of becoming lost within this world and ourselves.
I didn’t send anything out over the weekend but my mother’s words were on my mind most of this weekend, “Vengeance is mine sayeth the lord.” Till this day when something is going wrong or I feel I am being wronged my mother always refers back to this saying. She breaks it down like this is the only way that you can ensure that you will land on your feet. It is not our duty to get back at the people who have hurt us, or try to seek some sort of revenge or wish bad on them. We must force ourselves to leave that to the Lord, these were just my thoughts over the weekend. Peace and Grace be unto you.
Sometimes its better to lose and do the right thing than to win and do the wrong thing.
