ARE YOU READY TO MAKE IT HAPPEN

Congratulations, words can not express how I feel about this historic moment that we are living in. I pray that through Barack Obama’s leadership we can create a coalition of people who want to help effectuate the change we wish to see in America and around the world. Enjoy his speech, I listened to this speech with such clarity that I feel the need to share it with you so that you can see what I saw, hear what I heard and hopefully we can MAKE IT HAPPEN together!

“This victory alone is not the change we seek – it is only the chance for us to make that change.”
- Barack Obama
I woke up this morning in the Battleground Keystone State of Pennsylvania at 6:40am, I rolled over thinking that god had brought us to this day. I smiled, if anyone knows me, I don’t like to wake up that early.
But I put Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song” on repeat, I put on a tie that my students bought for me this past summer, and my Alpha Phi Alpha jacket. My rationale was that I was voting not only for my future but the future of my students. Gentleman like Thurgood Marshall helped to integrate the schools, while gentleman like MLK helped to integrate the people so I represented that legacy through my fraternity jacket.
I urge everyone to get out and vote, come experience the joy of having a stake in changing our FUTURE.

My hat goes off to Russell Simmons for using his celebrity and media mogul power to tap into this Political movement in such a profound way. A criticism of Black entertainers is often that they do not provide a forum for solutions and this mixtape is an excellent way of getting out Barack Obama’s message of change to people who might not have watched tonight’s debate, who might not have access to youtube and have the luxury of watching media pundits articulate the pros and cons of our political process.
While I sit here listening to this mixtape I am inspired that one man could bring together people of all ethnicities, different economic bacgrounds, different political ideologies and bring them to the same table and involve them in today’s leadership. Thank you to all the artists who ontributed to this project and remember to go out and vote on November 4th. OBAMA 08 YES WE CAN!

Here are some photos I found online of Barack Obama canvassing in the Battleground state of Ohio. I really admire this man’s work ethic, he is really taking his grassroots mentality to the White House. I think if this indset is employed by Americans we will be the change we wish to see in the world. OBAMA 08 YES WE CAN!

Congratulations to Senator Barack Obama on a solid win over Senator John McCain in tonight’s town hall style debate.
Barack Obama came across as the more Presidential of the two and he just had a way in which he connected with Americans all across the country. I was impressed that both candidates improved from their last performance but I felt Barack Obama’s change was more grounded in showcasing that he will be our next Commander in Chief.
While John McCain did not stink up the place, he merely existed tonight and we need more in our future leader than mere existence. I came into the debate committed to Barack Obama and that committment grew while I watched John McCain continuously show that he is out of touch with Americans. I may sound like an Obama advertisement right now but the truth is I was offended when McCain suggessted that the young man who asked him a question about the economy was not familiar with Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac prior to this economic crisis. McCain is ready to assume the role of presidency making broad assumptios and following in the footsteps of George Bush. I think he paints himself as a President who is not in tune with the people, he finds a hard time connecting with people who do not agree with him. If that is how expects us to believe that he will reach across the aisle he is doing a bad job at it.
Barack Obama maintained his calmness throughout the debate even after being referred to as “that guy” an obviusly condescending remark from John McCain towards Barack. Barack took the time to let the voters know what they could expect out of this rescue plan and how it is going to take all of us to get to the better America we wish to see.
Now don’t get me wrong, at times the debate did become a little boring and both the candidates did begin to point fingers. This was not my favorite part of the debate and after they both would go on for more time than they were alotted I found myself starting to tune out. I am someone who genuinely cares about the direction this country is going in because it directly impacts my future as it does yours but thelong winded answers to nowhere were far too repetitive. I think this was also the fault of the questions, I would have been more excited to hear questions that related to domestic issues such as poverty, education, and what ever happened to that WAR ON DRUGS.
Is the War on Terror the new War on Drugs where we constantly hear that we are battling something and we do not see the results. Just my thoughts. I think Drugs and crime should be an important discussion right now with our economy on the brink of a depression. During times of economic hardship people are known to fall victim to vices such as drugs and crime.
Overall I think McCain needed a game changer which he did not provide, in fact he solidly lost as most poles have shown thus far tonight. For those undecided voters I hope tonight showed you two canidates; one who will fight for you and another who will underestimate you and your intelligence a sure sign that he does not have your issues and or experieces at the forefront of his mind while making decisions that will ultimately affect your bottom line.

28 DAYS UNTIL THE ELECTION. LET’S MAKE A CHANGE!
A battle lost or won is easily described, understood, and appreciated, but the moral growth of a great nation requires reflection, as well as observation, to appreciate it.
