The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge.
He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
When things go wrong, we ask for prayers. When we want a job, money, to be cured of sickness we go to God. We go to our Lord disheveled, teary eyed, humble and fearful. We give our troubles to God because we know he can change our course, he can calm the waters, and bring peace into our lives. But what do we do when we get that peace? We yell a hallelujah, thank the Lord for his mercy and keep it moving as if we can only go to God with our troubles.
I sat in mid-week service last week with a smile. I’ve been blessed and I know it, there was a certain calm over me. I started working with a new company, and while I’m still slipping notes in the prayer box for the praying band to lift up prayers to put me back in school, I haven’t gotten any rejections lately. I’m not rich (by no means) but I’m not hungry. I’m surrounded with warmth, love; people who want to see me achieve. Yeah, I’d say I’m pretty blessed and in being blessed let me ask you to thank God for me.
Thank him for the blessings he’s bestowing in my life and yours. Thank him for keeping us in good spirits despite the downtrodden economy. Thank him for our health, thank him for the breath you are taking as you read this. We take these (big things) for granted. I found myself tapping my foot harder, singing the songs (the ones I know) a little louder. Clapping – off beat, but I was still clapping because it’s time I give God the praise. Give him the glory he deserves for all the great things he has done in my life. I will thank God for you; because maybe you’re stressed right now and you have blinded yourself to the beauty around you. Don’t worry, we all make that mistake, thank God we have a creator who understands our selfish ways and loves us anyway. Thank you God. Peace and Grace be unto you.
