Pardon me

Lord help me to live my life over flowing with thankfulness, always giving thanks to you. Ephesians 5:20

Yizzo, yesterday I got an email from an older brother who always imparts wisdon on me. He sends out emails from time to time, some forwards and although I strongly dislike forwards his seem to always be pretty on time. So he sent out a prayer calendar yesterday and I knew from a first glance that this would be something that I would want to share with others as well as utilize for myself. I woke up this morning on a page of thankfulness. Lately I have been reflecting on how we can be ungrateful for our circumstances and then later look back like “what was I unhappy for, I had it pretty good in comparrison to now”. This vibe has made me concious of the fact that we need to be thankful, ever so thankful of our highs and lows no matter the situation because things can always be worst. So I pulled up the attachment a little while ago hoping to find some scripture about being thankful and low and behold I found it.
Lord help me to live my life over flowing with thankfulness, always giving thanks to you. Help me, I love that we are asking for help because sometimes I can act as a spoiled child with the Lord. Like a baby crying for a bottle but the mother has already fed the child, he’s just being greedy. I think back to being in class, finding all sorts of things to complain about; the readings, the socratic method, heck even just waking up. But when I sit in my office and I see books from the past semester but none from this semester I ask myself what was I complaining about then, I had been blessed what was I unhappy for. The lesson is that even now that I look back and say hey I liked that situation better, I am thankful for my situation now. I am thankful I woke up this morning, thankful that my mouth could utter words of prayer for my mother and others this morning who I hope the Lord will bless. The refrigerator needs to be cleaned, instead of that being a burden, I am thankful I have a refrigerator. Instead of us wallowing in what we do not have it may be more beneficial to be thankful for what we do have. I’m going to keep telling myslef that because I am sure that I’ll fall of this thankful horse sooner or later, then I can look back on these words. Peace and Grace be unto you!

Stop saying things can always be better when in fact things could be a lot worst.

McCain is Playing with the lives of American People

Friday, September 26th, 2008

John McCain has shown us this week that he thinks our lives are a joke, he sees the American people as nothing more blind sheep that he can play games with to become elected into the White House. You disagree, well lt me tell you why I feel this way.

Last week John McCain told the world, yes the world because we live in a global village, that the fundamentals of them American economy were strong. Numerous times the Maverick has told us that the economy is not his strong suit, and we have accepted it. So why then would he think we would be stupid enough to accept his desperate ploy for attention this week by suspending his campaign. John McCain is a stunt double in an extremely bad movie. His Robin, is a self proclaimed soccer mom from Alaska who is unaware of his policies and this is who he thinks should be his second in command.

He suspends his campaign, well he says that he does but it is clear that he never did nor intended to, in fact he just wanted photo ops in Washington to show him moving negotiations along with our current financial crisis bail out. He lies to us telling us he suspended his campaign and says that Barack Obama should do the same in an effort to look more presidential. This backfired when Barack did not agree, and rightfully so. As the President of the Free World as we know it, our leader will have to juggle multiple crisis, high priority information and decisions at the same time. As Mike Huckabee has said, the president can not ask for a ‘timeout”, that’s absurd.

McCain’s actions this week have shown that he in unfit to lead this nation. But the game does not stop there, he stages a fake suspension of his campaign and attempts to cancel the debate. Not because he is afraid to debate Barack Obama but because he has an incompetent running mate who he is trying to shield from the public so by pushing back one debate he buys her time. Isn’t it interesting how when the Republicans attack Michelle Obama it’s fair game but when Democrats attack Palin it’s sexist, things that make you go hmmm.

So McCain decided he will take a stand, a stand for honor, a stand for his country and he will not go to the debate unless the Bailout goes through. Oh yeah, the bailout, the economy the thing he’s weak at again and last week thought was strong. Well today at 11:30am there was no bail out but there was McCain’s camp telling the public that he would be at the debate. Wait a minute Maverick, what about your patriotism, what about the bailout. Sorry Mr. Shine, that bull ish I tried didn’t work, now I have to go save face. Do Americans not see that this is a man who will play with their emtions, their wallets and pocketbooks, their fears and anxieties all in the hopes of looking Presidential when he does not have a clue. John McCain you are more than out of touch, you my friend are unfit to lead!

Palin is Dumb as Nails

Friday, September 26th, 2008

To say that we should never second guess Israel is outrageous, and extremely incompetent as a leader. The person or country who will best put forth your best interests are you. To blindly follow anyone’s agenda could mean the death of many American lives and destruction to other lands because you chose to blindly enter into something without exhausting the possibilities.

The Republicans pounced all over Barack Obama for saying that he would meet with other leaders without pre-conditions to tlak about better relations. Essentially what Palin is saying is that she will go to war with other nations not on intelligence that we have gathered but rather the thoughts of one of our allies.

Statements like this show that Ms. Pitt bull in a skirt is more than not ready to lead. She lacks the judgment and common sense to hold the lives of the people in this country in her hands. She has not been doing a great job at parenting maybe she should go sink her teeth into that!

Ps. Her own party is saying she should step down, what does that tell you. OBAMA 08 HERE WE COME!

(CNN) – The United States should not second guess actions Israel takes in the name of security, Sarah Palin seemed to suggest in a Thursday interview.

The Republican VP nominee recently said that she would never “second guess Israel if that country decided to attack Iran.” Speaking with Katie Couric of CBS News, she stood by that quote.

“We shouldn’t second guess Israel’s security efforts because we cannot ever afford to send a message that we would allow a second Holocaust, for one,” she said. “Israel has got to have the opportunity and the ability to protect itself. They are our closest ally in the Mideast. We need them. They need us. And we shouldn’t second guess their efforts.”

The Alaska governor said the United States should be free to relay its rights our concerns, but “we don’t have to second-guess what their efforts would be if they believe … that it is in their country and their allies, including us, all of our best interests to fight against a regime, especially Iran, who would seek to wipe them off the face of the earth,” said Palin. “It is obvious to me who the good guys are in this one and who the bad guys are.”

Palin spent the week meeting with foreign leaders in New York.

A Change is Gonna Come - Register & Vote

Youtube is a lawyers dream, it is a place where there are tons of copyrighted materials being shared in a forum that does not properly credit those who own the copyright. You have minors “dropping it like it’s hot” wearing nothing more than boy shorts and bikini tops possibly leading to child preadtors lurking on such a site looking to prey on young teenagers.  These videos have hundreds of thousands of views and most are never taken down.

However at least three times in the last week a particular video has been taken down. Originally titled “How Far We’ve Come”, this video represents the struggles of People of Color here in America and how far WE have come. The back drop is a Sam Cooke song, a change is Gonna come, the words to the song coupled with the images of oppression, degradation and triumph are quite moving. The main theme is to remind people where they have come from and to inspire them to help be the change they wish to see. So why is it that this video is constantly pulled down, I thank the people who keep putting it back up because this video is here for a reason and the images and themes need to be digested. Youtube is a fraud, I hope you enjoy!

Absentee Father

Absentee Father by Bastard Child

Born into a generation with no father
Our elders cut us off
Banished from their society
Labeled us as outcasts
How soon they forgot
Were they not the generation that introduced the world to Woodstock,
freedom marches, the Black Panther party?
A new thought
Processes leading to new places
They too were ridiculed by those who could not see
See their vision but they had support
Support of a community of those who came from their household
Their family  stood strong

Malcolm had the honorable Elijah Muhammad
Who do we have?
Who do I have?
Our so called leaders sit high on pedestals
Only to step down periodically
Just enough to fool some into believing they care
Then they rise…ascend to their self made heights
What would have happened to Malcolm if his father never wrote back?
Never listend
Never guided
Would he have ever reached, evolved into the man whose words inspire
the essence of what lies at the heart of me

So we
Who are we to turn to
Who are the leaders of tomorrow to turn to for wisdom
Guidance
Al Shaprton?
Jesse Jackson?
Not really
They are so beyond the community they came from
The community they claim to speak on behalf of

Even if they would hear my words…
the language I speak is one unknown to them
It is a language compiled of my Haitian ancestry, Brooklyn swag,
Nubian heritage and 80’s upbringing
It is a language spoken and understood by my bastard brothers and sisters
But our fathers….
They look, listen and dismiss us
Labeling us foreign, a disgrace to our race
How can you look at us and not see you
Not hear the same repetition, combined with rhythmic melodic tunes in
our devil music you heard,
created,
perfected in the genre we now know as jazz, R&B

Born into a fatherless home we have no one to look to
To cry on
To tell us we are beautiful as
We are
And you wonder why our self esteem is so low that my sisters walk
around naked for 5 min of fake love
And my brothers carry a cold gun, call it respect and label themselves MEN
You have nerve
Nerve to even speak about who we are
YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHO WE ARE
Absentee Father

Thank you to Ma’at for inspiring us through her words and sharing in her own experiences what it is to be young, and intelligent in today’s time where such beauty is shunned and frowned upon while people speak of rasing us up while putting us down. Thank you!
