The argument is clear: Snitch or Die. But for those who grew up in the violent neighborhoods, those who have always heard "Snitch and Die", how do we get the message to them in a convincing way? We can hold school assemblies and make PSA's, but when Akon, Snoop, and Ice Cube all send out the "Stop Snitchin" message, how can you combat their influence without seeming irrelvant at best and like a cowardly traitor to the struggle at worst? Those hip hop stars go after the imagination. They have a grip on it. And kids that grow up with little to no hope in their lives are easily consumed by it. You can only rise as high as you can imagine yourself to be. I've started a site dedicated to these issues and questions.
