Oprah Denies Christ
Food for thought:
Do not believe everything that you read in the newspapers, hear on the radio, or see on television or youtube. I was browsing through a forum and I read the title “Oprah denies Christ, Trouble for Obama”! I quickly clicked the link because I was curious as to where this information could be coming from. Low and behold; the same bible toting soldiers who have been claiming Barack Obama is a Muslim and substituting Jesus’s love message with hate for all those who do not believe as they do, are behind this same message. These same evangelists, as they call themselves must have never read the book of Romans where we are taught not judge for if we judge then we condemn ourselves.
So I watch the clip and Oprah did no such thing, I am not writing this to support Oprah but to ask people to take the lid off of their truck yard minds and allow objective thoughts and reason to seep through. I am a Christian man, I go to church on Sundays when my time permits. I send out daily messages that quote the scripture in the bible. This is all fact; I also listen to the teachings of Brother Malcolm, Louis Farrakhan, Father Pfleger, and a host of other spiritual leaders. I post quotes of the day from spiritual leaders such as the Great Buddha, Dali Lama and other figures who do not represent Christianity. To tell me because I understand that we are all praying to the same God and just calling him different names is the most bigoted, ignorant, non-factual statement that I have ever heard.
Spirituality is about finding the God within; Jesus never taught us to hate or judge anyone! Instead he taught us to love and care for one another, the same principles that other religous groups teach throughout their teachings. The way that media outlets are using these types of edited, chopped up videos to perpetuate a message of evil is rather disgusting. Rather than unify the people of this world under God and create a love language, we would rather use our differences to create further division; only heightening the problems of the world. So the next time you get an email, or a message like the video I am about to show you, think objectively before you react to the propaganda that fear mongers and hate mongers put forth in order to create more chaos in the world as we know it. Peace and Grace be unto you!

This is definitely an interesting topic for several reasons:
1) Yes, there are a bunch of people in the media trying to manipulate us into voting for/against particular candidates by piecing together snippets of things people say. It’s ridiculous. Even worse they honestly believe they are being fair minded.
2) I saw a couple of these episodes in this clip and Oprah has definitely reconciled within herself a view of God that is comfortable for her, but then again… who doesn’t? Who identifies themselves with a faith and at the same time views God in a way that condemns themselves? Most people manipulate the word just enough to justify their behavior. Right or wrong, I think its just a natural thing to do. We are trying to find our way and to come down on someone who is apparently making an effort to align themselves with God, but happen to be in a different spiritual place than you are, as if they are the anti-Christ, is blatantly self-centered, insensitive and unjust.
Unfortunately, a lot of people take the media at face value and lack the motivate to research. Even moreso when the person/group in question is a minority. It’s a sad state of affairs.
Mo
You make good point.
I think the majority of people put too much stock in what the media reports. What people fail to realize is that these media outlets are controlled and/or lobbied by big business and other interested that do not serve to educate the people of this country. They tell you what they want you to know and nothing more. Look at the coverage of the war, the election, even how crime, and missing people are reported is based on race and economic class. With all of the accessibility to information via the internet mainstream society has become like the mindless lemming that follows its comrades off the cliff to their demise.
Oprah was the media’s darling until she openly supported Barack Obama, now all of a sudden she’s denying Christ. Even if she did since when did this become a communist country where poeple cant speak on their beliefs openly. I’m sure if she had any skeletons in her closet they would surely bring them out too.
The assassination of ones character is not a new tactic. Its been done throughout history by the media and the government through the Civil Right movement up to today. To the ACLU, Black Panthers, and countless leaders throughout history.
We can’t sit by and watch another generation of our leaders get assassinate figuratively and literally.
FJ
I agree with Mo. I would add that we have allowed the media to “think” for us. Many people uncritically absorb whatever message is thrown their way. The same goes for the internet in general. Think about urban legends. For years now Bill Gates has allegedly been giving folks $250 for forwarding an email. Does that even make sense? Of course not but people quickly and enthusiastically forward it and other illogical email (I love the “send this to 10 people and your wish will come true or your prayers will be answered” emails) without thinking about whether or not it makes sense. The same goes with the “doctored” Youtube videos like this one and the clips Fox News made on Jerermiah Wright.

God is not for us to take bits and pieces of. We are not to go with what makes us feel comfortable. Ooo! This makes me feel good, so I’ll believe that. OOO! I don’t like that, so I won’t accept it. Christianity is uncomfortable. Why? Because we are sinners. We don’t like to be told what we do is wrong. But all of us have done wrong. No one is perfect, and Oprah needs to accept that. There is only one way- through Christ! She is not a Christian- she has never said she thinks Christ is her Savior! In fact, 10 years ago, she said there are many ways to get to God! She has millions of people at her feet thast she could bring towards God through Christ, but she does not. Wake up people! Read the BIBLE!!! No one goes to the Father without going through Jesus. Tell me- where does she say that!?!?

so KLB where does a muslim go. where does a buddhist go. where does anyone who does not believe in Christ go? I’d like to hear your opinion
KLB
That’s funny. A trick question. I’m not God. I cannot say where you will go. I am not your judge. I just know what happens to those who do believe. Jesus has saved us through His grace and mercy. His sacrifice cloaks our sins as if they never happened. Those who die will be judged based on their works. Even those who do good deeds are not perfect though. No one is. Some believe you will be separate from God, and that is your Hell. Others believe it is a place of fire and brimstone. Either way, it does say that you will be condemned if you do not believe. What that means is up to God. I pray for all that we may end up in the Book of Life. But according to the Bible, some of us do not.
Revelation 20 (New King James Version)
The Great White Throne Judgment
And they were judged, each one according to his works. 14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.[d] 15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.
But we are all as an unclean [thing], and all our righteousnesses [are] as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Isaiah 64:6 Commentary on this verse by Matthew Henry
How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
Hebrew 9:14
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves [it is] the gift of God Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9
To declare, [I say], at this time his righteousness that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Where [is] boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Romans 3:26-28
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Galatians 2:16
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Titus 3:5
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
James 2:26
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
John 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

KLB I agree with you wholeheartedly. And that was a wise response as well. But I will play the bad guy because I don’t believe in sugarcoating. If you do not believe that Jesus died for your sins, was resurrected, and his the Son of God, you are going to hell. Thats the bottom line. There will be a lot of good and nice people in hell I am sad to say. I also pray it isn’t me, because I have a enough sense to know that I need God’s forgiveness everyday. Wake up people. Jesus is knocking at the door, but even He won’t knock too long.

Interesting conversation…
Jesus said that “no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled him.” God chooses, not us. And the Word teaches us that “It does not, therefore, depend on a man’s desire or effort, but on God’s mercy.”
So rather than trusting in our own willingness to “believe,” it seems more prudent to trust in God’s unfailing love and in his goodness and righteousness. He’s not a corrupt judge who only pardon his choosen “friends.”
We are told that “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy” and that “Mercy triumphs over judgment.” Which seems to indicate that Jesus will intercede and atone for the sins of kind, merciful people.
Therefore maybe “belief” comes at a time that is best for the individual and maybe for some that belief will happen when they meet God face to face (even Jesus disciple Thomas doubted until Jesus appeared before him and said “Because you have seen me, you believed”)
From the bible belt
I am a Christian myself but most times I cannot feel the comfort under God’s mercy. Even after admitting Christ as my savior, nothing has changed for the better, nothing has changed for the worse either. But one thing I have to say as a Christian, defending one’s own faith is the toughest thing to do. The bible cannot convert someone unless that person felt something miraculous from God. It only guards ones’ spirit from sin. To use the bible as the foundation to defend Christianity, the argument is lost in stalemate. I believe it is important to know everything about other religion and not just Christianity. If someone told you that one thing is bad and the other is good, you are not excising the freedom the Lord as given you, the freedom to choose. I see this all the time; I see this too when looking at a mirror. It is important to be WISE. Christians should be educated and not remain ignorant.

Believe those who are seeking the truth. Doubt those who find it.

Yes, it becomes a stalemate…and reveals the thoughts of the heart, a perspective focusing either on self-preservation or humanity.

You know what has always perplexed me about the “jesus is the ONLY way”… is the fact that in the Old “Testament God called the Israelites his chosen people. If so one can get to heaven without faith in God. Noah, Job, many righteous people died before Jesus came on the scene.
27thfloor
ooops typo. I meant, “without faith in Jesus.”

The Book of Romans in the New Testament talks a lot about the topic of Israel being chosen, becoming disobedient, and rejecting the gospel.
Yet the text also states, “but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs, for God’s gift and his call are irrovocable….For God has bound all men over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all.”

It does not matter what other people believe in. What matter’s is that they are content with their decisions, wishes, and values. That is all that is required to keep them happy and to move on in life. (Life goes on, and God doesn’t decide as to whether or not you should believe in him or her. It is really how a person(s) choose to live their life!) The bottom line is, God has been around for centuries!!!! He always has and he always will!!!! So get over it!
CHI
This whole thing with Oprah denying Christ is ridiculous. She didn’t do that. What she asked the woman in the audience was something I would have asked. Why can’t someone in a remote part of the world, who never heard the name of Christ not be directly connected to Him anyway by how he/she chooses to live his/her life? Who is to say that this person is damned to hell because he never heard the name of Christ or read the Bible? It is ridiculous. The Bible’s been re-written so many times anyway. How can anyone be so certain that we know everything there is to know about Christ’s life? I use to attend a church that didn’t want its members associating with anyone who did not attend this church. Notice that I said USE TO ATTEND. Even then I did not feel right about judging other people and saying that they were BAD (for lack of a better word) because they didn’t attend my righteous, pure church. Most Christians are so narrow minded and ignorant. People are people. ANYBODY can be a bad influence and some were right there in that church. When are Christians gonna wake up? Christ didn’t create a religion man did.

thats the link to oprah deniying christ, the fact that she believes christ is not the only way is denial
eloxy25
to say that you dont believe the word of God will reach all corners of this earth means that you dont believe God exists, i mean c’mon, everyone will hear Gods word and choose (free will) whether they will follow christ.
eloxy25
everyone in any remote corner of this earth will hear Gods word, if you dont believe that, then you doubt God.

The video you have on here is not the right video. She denies Christ in her studio in front of an audiance. Go to Youtube and search for Oprah Denies Christ

I don’t beleive that God can ONLY inspire or connect with us through reading the Bible. If that is what you believe then you have put God in a box and tied it with a neat little bow. This is the very issue I have with organized religion. The idea that God can only accomplish as much as the limitations humans put on Him.
CHI
To just outright judge my belief in God is exactly the kind of attitude I was talking about that permeates the church. What makes it so heartbreaking is that you don’t even know it. You don’t even know who I am and yet you have the audacity to say that I don’t believe God exists. It is unreal.

CHI who do you feel is judging you. I for one am not judging anyone and I am against judgment!
CHI
I wasn’t referring to you but eloxy25. It sounded as though he was commenting on what I had said.
yng yet understanding
I think most people serve the same God like Jews and Christians but buddist dont serve the same God as Chrtistians I am a Christian and go to church 3 times a week and i think that those who say every religion has a diffrent God is very ignorant they should be able to see that Jews and Christians obviously see they are they same God and that God is the God of Abraham and JAcob and those who are wondering how Noah and JAcob and all the others born in the old testiment times got to God is by giving a holy sacrafice. ANd tht sacrafice is their kind of jesus
Nobody
I’m not very familiar with Buddist, but maybe “loving your neighbor as yourself” (through kindness, compassion, mercy, etc.) will be accepted as a holy sacrafice.
James 1:27 alludes to this type of worship…
“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”
Nobody
Perhaps we are all like sheep, each of us hearing the voice of our own Shepherd.
And the sheep like to tell each other “you are lost” and then the other replies, “I’m not lost, you are the one who is lost.” This goes back and forth, back and forth….on and on.
When, most likely, the reality of the matter is that the Shepherd knows where all his sheep are and he is leading them in the path that is best for them.
“….what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

KLB, I particularly like how you effectivley manage to block out the entire Old Testament of the Bible, supporting your reasoning with only New Testament verses. Very interesting approach, and no doubt effective.
